The Footbridge As It Was

The Waverley Station redevelopment of the 1890s resulted in the footbridge connecting Jeffrey Street and Calton Road, as shown in the 1914 Ordnance Survey map below. You can see that it is slightly to the west of the historic Leith Wynd/Cranston Street route which is visible in the map below as the Parliamentary Division Boundary dotted line (remember this boundary traced the full length of Cranston Street in the 1893–94 map). However, it is still very close to the original Leith Wynd route which started where Jeffrey Street begins at the Netherbow and ended at Calton Road where it heads up to meet Leith Walk.
